Kick off the New Year at These January Panama City Beach Events
January 4, 2017
Winter in Panama City Beach welcomes visitors to celebrate the beach and enjoy a more mild climate compared to many other regions the U.S. While the beach is enough to cure the winter blues, the city hosts several events in January that welcome couples, families, and singles to take a break and have fun. Here are the top January events in Panama City Beach:
Panama City POPS: The Music of David Bowie
In honor of the late David Bowie, the Panama City POPS Orchestra will perform Windborne’s The Music of David Bowie. The show takes place at the Marina Civic Center and features singer Brody Dolyniuk and a full rock band. Those attending will hear Bowie favorites including Space Oddity, China Girl and more.
PCB Winter Resident Events
When temperatures cool off in the north, many people flock to Panama City Beach to enjoy warmer weather and beach fun. Also known as snowbirds, these winter residents travel from all over to attend special Panama City Beach January events.
The season kicks off with Winter Resident Appreciation Days that offer free coffee, donuts and giveaways at the Panama City Beach Senior Center. Guests will also have the opportunity to attend two dances: the Homecoming Dance and Social and the Winter Resident Senior Prom. Both welcome visitors to dress their best and have fun dancing and mingling. Another signature event is the Grand Finale, which provides entertainment and fun to both say farewell and show appreciation for those who make Panama City Beach their home away from home.
Arbor Day Celebrations
Help a good cause and celebrate Florida Arbor Day at the Panama City Beach Conservation Park. Visitors can participate in the Longleaf Tree Planting Celebration, plant a tree together and take pictures to capture the experience. Don’t worry about bringing water or tools, both are provided at this free event.
Man in the Sea Bash
Each year, the Man in the Sea Museum hosts its annual fundraiser packed full of food, fun and education. Those attending can dig into their favorites at the fish fry or try chili, hamburgers, and hot dogs. Once everyone is full, head to the restored SEALAB I, an exhibit showcasing four Navy divers who proved the theory of underwater living in 1964 by spending 11 days in 193 feet of water. Other activities at the museum include diving helmet demonstrations and exploring other exhibits including the Mk IV Beaver Submarine.
Englebert Humperdinck 50th Anniversary Tour
Legendary performer Englebert Humperdinck comes to Panama City Beach in 2017 to celebrate 50 years of music, success and tours. The concert takes place at the Marina Civic Center and will showcase some of the artist’s top songs as well as provide a great date night idea for winter residents.
Stars and Guitars: 6th Annual Benefit Concert
See musical acts perform at the Stars and Guitars concert at the Marina Civic Center. The 2017 lineup features Josh Turner, Joe Nichols, Easton Corbin and more. In addition to enjoying live music, visitors will also help a local charity as all proceeds benefit those served by the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center.
